Why is freeze-dried fruit healthier?
Why is freeze-dried fruit healthier?
Freeze-dried fruit typically retains about 90–97% of its original nutrients. Because freeze-drying uses low temperatures and no liquid water, it preserves vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber far better than conventional drying, baking, or frying.
Why is freeze-dried fruit more expensive?
Why is freeze-dried fruit more expensive?
Since water makes up 80–90% of fruit, it takes several pounds of high quality, fresh fruit to make a single pound of freeze-dried fruit. You’re essentially paying for a much more concentrated form of real fruit.
Can you rehydrate the fruit?
Can you rehydrate the fruit?
Yes. Freeze-dried fruit can be easily rehydrated by adding water, where it will absorb moisture and soften to a texture similar to fresh fruit. This makes it great for baking, smoothies, oatmeal, or cooking! Although many people also enjoy it crunchy straight from the bag.
